Flying Facts

Flying Facts is an education show about the science of flight – fun, fabulous and factual!
The work explores Australian aviation history – science and dance meet – discovering how planes and birds fly. This 30 min show is created in collaboration with the National Library of Australia (NLA), National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) and Questacon. The work is an education project inspired by a new full length production Liz Lea is developing called InFlight which explores the history and travels of aviation – man, woman, bird and global exploration – an all Australian story.
As part of the placement for National Science Week 2012 Liz is engaging with schools and community groups to create new dance works inspired by Science. Liz has been researching Australian history at the NLA and NFSA and is keen to share these archival materials with young Australians to inspire them and create more interest in science in Australia and Internationally. Liz is Choreographer in Residence at CSIRO in 2012 and will bring her experiences there to to the projects at the Discovery Science and Technology Centre.
